Jammu and Kashmir: PDP leader Abdul Gani Dar shot dead by militants in Pulwama


In a shocking incident, unknown militants shot dead a PDP leader, Abdul Gani Dar who was a prominent figure in the party. He was killed when he was coming to his residence in Pulwama district.

The PDP (Peoples Democratic Party) leader was also the district president and was active for his party’s activities in the region. No group has so far claimed the responsibility of killing Abdul Gani Dar in Kashmir.

After shooting at the leader, the suspected militants got an easy escape. No arrest has been made so far and police is investigating the matter. He was shot at near Pinglan area of Pulwama, which falls near the South Kashmir.

The bullets wounds were so deep; and when he was rushed to the nearest hospital of the region he could not succumbed to his injuries. The sources of the police and SMHS (Srinagar’s Government Sri Maharaja Hari Singh) told the media.

According to the sources, the suspected militants were hiding somewhere between Pinglan Village and Pahoo, and when Abdul Gani Dar approached the place; they started opening the fire on him. He was travelling to the Srinagar region.

The PDP has an alliance with BJP in Jammu and Kashmir. The situation in the valley has been worse for a long time and Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti met the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to talk about the recent situation in the region.

During the past, when the situation was worse in the valley, former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee took lots of initiative to normalize the situation in Jammu and Kashmir and when the Chief Minister met the prime minister, she reminded him of former prime ministers human steps.

This shooting incident and killing the senior leader indicates the gravity of the situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
