Being an Indian makes someone raises his or her head high with pride but in a foreign land, Indians are targeted for being an Indian irrespective of their caste and religion.
In a recent racist attack or hate crime in Melbourne, a 48-years-old Karalla cleric, Rev Tomy Kalathoor Mathew was killed for being an Indian. According to the sources from church official, the man entered into the church, yelled at the priest, and said, “You are Indian, a Hindu or Muslim, you cannot say mass”.
The words sound horrible and full of hate against Indian nationals. Some people believe that racist attacks in foreign countries are against Muslims only, but even Indian origin Christians are not exempted from xenophobic assaults.
According to the people gathered for Sunday mass, the assailant went to the priest and started stabbing in his neck while the people were standing shocked and surprised.
Some people intervened but it was too late as the attacker got enough time to attack and flee from the spot.
This attack is being seen in view of Kanas attack, where an engineer was killed for being an Indian. The motive of killing was to force Indian people to go back to India.
The police is investing the matter but the suspect said to be of Italian descent is still absconding.
